Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most about forestry mulching and land clearing in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. If your question is not here, call (513) 930-0121.
What is forestry mulching?
Forestry mulching is a land-clearing method in which a machine grinds brush, briars, saplings, and small trees into mulch in a single pass, leaving the mulch on site. It clears overgrown ground without burn piles or hauling, and with minimal ground disturbance.
How much land can be cleared in a day?
It depends on the property. Light, open brush clears much faster than dense, tangled, or steep ground, so the amount cleared in a day varies widely. We can give you a realistic sense of timing for your property during the walkthrough, once we have seen the density, terrain, and access.
What size trees and brush can the mulcher handle?
In general terms, mulchers handle brush, briars, saplings, and small trees. Larger stems take longer to process, and very large trees may need a different approach. What is standing on your property is something we assess during the walkthrough.
Do you haul debris away?
No. With forestry mulching there is nothing to haul: the growth is ground into mulch and left on site, where it protects the soil and suppresses regrowth. That is one of the reasons mulching is usually faster and tidier than cutting and piling.
Can you clear selectively and keep certain trees?
Yes. Selective clearing is a core part of what we do. During the walkthrough we mark the trees and features you want to keep, and the operator works around them.
What happens to the mulch?
The mulch stays on your property as a layer over the cleared ground. It protects the soil from erosion, holds moisture, and slows regrowth, and it breaks down naturally over time.
How are estimates priced?
Estimates are free, on-site, itemized, and in writing, and are based on the factors that drive the work: acreage, density of growth, terrain, access, tree size, and what you want to keep. See our cost guide for the full list of factors. We do not publish company prices, because an honest price depends on your property.
Do I need permits for clearing?
It depends on your property and location. Some areas have rules about clearing near waterways, easements, or protected areas, and some projects need local approval. We recommend checking with your local jurisdiction before work begins, and we can discuss what applies during the walkthrough.
How soon can you start?
Scheduling depends on current bookings and on the size and conditions of your job. Call (513) 930-0121 and we will discuss timing for your property honestly — we do not promise a start date until we have seen the work.
Is your work warrantied?
Yes. Our work is backed by a 2-year warranty.
How does forestry mulching compare to traditional land clearing?
Traditional clearing often means cutting, piling, burning, or hauling debris, and sometimes bulldozing, which disturbs the topsoil. Mulching does the cutting and the cleanup in one pass, leaves the ground covered rather than bare, and keeps the topsoil largely in place.
Will mulching damage my soil or the trees I keep?
Mulching is designed to keep ground disturbance to a minimum, and the mulch layer left behind protects the soil. Trees you mark to keep are worked around during the walkthrough plan, and care is taken around fences, structures, and property lines.
What happens to invasive plants after removal?
Mulching grinds invasive growth such as bush honeysuckle, callery pear, and kudzu into mulch, which slows it down. No clearing method stops regrowth permanently, so invasive ground may need follow-up attention — our vegetation management service is designed for exactly that.
Do you work on steep or wet ground?
It depends on the site. Terrain and ground conditions affect which machine can be used and how safely the work can be done. We assess slopes, wet areas, and access during the walkthrough and will tell you honestly what is practical.
What should I do before clearing day?
Walk the property with us and mark what you want to keep, confirm your property lines, and make sure the machine can reach the work area. If anything on the property needs special care — a fence, a structure, a septic area, or a buried line you know about — tell us during the walkthrough.
Do you clear land for building or selling?
Yes. Lot clearing prepares building lots, sale properties, and reclaimed ground, and land clearing covers larger tracts and acreage. A clear, tidy property is easier to build on and easier to sell.
What areas do you serve?
